RNS is a popular movement against narcotic drugs, founded in 1969 and has about 5000 members.
RNS's chief task is to influence public opinion in favour of a restrictive drug policy, by which we mean that all use of narcotic drugs is to be fought against. Preventive efforts to combat abuse are
|
important, as are early and consistent methods of intervention as well as providing treatment for those who need it.
Ideally we should be able to persuade young people never to start taking drugs in the first place.
RNS is no client movement or interest organisation for any particular professional group.
Our aim is to gather together all democratically-minded people in the struggle for a society free from drugs, irrespective of their views on other political issues.

'Johanneshovslänkarna' is an NGO, which is in charge of two centres for rehabilitation of drug abusers in Stockholm.

targets clients who are able to participate in work, vocational training or studies.
The second centre, Roo gård, is situated some 30 kilometres north of Stockholm, can accommodate some 60 clients for long-term stays. At Roo gård you will find clients who have been using drugs for a very long time and their stay at Roo gård can last for many years or for life. All clients are expected to participate in the daily work, according to his/her ability, including caring for animals, farming, carpentry, weaving.
Karolinen and Roo gård are drug free facilities and no medications are accepted after the detox phase. All members of the staff are former addicts, including the director, the psychologist and even the doctor.
